An ad for this demo appears on a Settlers map site out the UK.
it has a link to a German site and offers a multi language demo, meaning I think it will have options for English on it.
Presently I am in a long line, I stareted with a 57 minute wait, I have 37 minutes left give or take, it ran faster than the original number.
So, go to page link here, go to page link on Germman site, on page is a circle that says, weiter, hit that get a download tab in its place hit that, code in and wait, the words are all German translate to how many people are in que and amount of time until yours is ready then saying the page refresshes every 30 seconds and at bottom instruction for support which are all to be written in tickets to German game maker.

I wouldn't mind having a look at Settlers 7.  What time did you do the download?

I think for me it must have been close to 11PM (PST) that I tried it the 2nd time, took maybe 10 minutes in queue in total the second time, possibly only 5 minutes queue at that hour for me.

I'm really rather torn on Settlers 7, not all together because of this new online DRM, but rather than I have to wonder who is working at Blue Byte, they must have a high turn over of employees since it seems since Version 5 of the Settlers they don't update the game, they rebuild it each time making it a different feeling from the games before it.  We're now back to the comical looking Settlers and some strange build system where we have to attach workshops to the buildings that we build, which just makes it all the more difficult to place buildings and still use their workshops.

I played for about 3 hours last night (by the way, there is no save in the demo, so everytime you play you start from scratch again), and got totally obsessed with trying to produce tools even though I could just trade some gold coins for them in the tavern and for the life of me couldn't ever produce tools, somewhere the iron bars were disappearing and my settlers couldn't make enough of them to make even a remote dent in creating tools.  It was wholly annoying to spend 45 minutes trying to fine tune the tool creation system and not have one tool created.

Then I spent another 30 minutes trying to figure out how I was going to collect rocks after the initial rock quarry had run dry, and I had used up all my rocks trying to upgrade the roads to rock roads (which works terribly as we have no control over how far the game is going to update the roads, 1 tile or 3 or more), and then found out I had no more rocks to build a new rock quarry.  I found the water well when destroyed gave back one rock, however the settlers never used it to go build my new rock quarry so it pissed me off enough after 3 hours to just quit, maybe I'll try again, maybe not.  With no save function in the demo, and a DRM that I absolutely hate, I'm not sure it's worth trying it again  (for me), but go ahead, you may totally love it.

Settlers 7 is a game that I will buy... When they remove the DRM for singleplayer, and when the game hits a sale on Steam, Impulse or Gamersgate.... Oh and yes, when the moon turns blue too. Laughing

  Looking around cautiously
Saw the Settlers 7 Demo News on their fansite and read through the posts, the first one had expired, so on to Ubisoft.de for list of sites all (in German) can read a bit of German but am rusty and with the help of Google translator - most of them required registration, then still refused to deliver the goods! After perservering finally found one:-

www.4players.de

No registration and a link to download that worked straightaway, with no wait, took just over an hour to download 2.55 Gb
Also I've learned that fileplanet has it now. The game is going to be sold on Steam, but I'll get it on amazon

Then Win7 64bit wouldn't open it, not even WinZip, as its WinRar, installed that then Hey Presto installed with no problems but already a patch has to be installed.

I've got a fast system but Oh! this baby is slow, login to Ubisoft then it loads to profile and the continue doesn't continue, check Taskmaster still running but restart anyway. Don't know if this is normal first time.

This has taken all evening, no wonder people play console games. The game looks good am taking my time and enjoying it but if this is the disregard Ubisoft have for the English speakers they are going lose a lot of revenue and goodwill from their fanbase
