we got disco too, I think we need to try opening a certain port as that might help, and I think on our next try crowebird, maybe I should try hosting to see if it's better or worse.

I don't use hamachi unless I absolutely have to due to a game not having a central server to host people together, for that matter it's been a while since I had hamachi installed, I think the last game was for Capitalism II.

You're welcome to join us without Hamachi if you like, but personally I don't want to start fooling around installing hamachi again.  If the game can't cope with keeping the players synced up then the developers should be slapped in the face, after all, wasn't that the big seller for this Venice addon (since there isn't anyway to build venitian canals, so that pretty much leaves the multiplayer which I'll certainly start complaining on the official forums until something gets done to fix it if we can't get it to work out like we paid for it to.

Us europeans with our dynamic IP addresses usually have trouble with multiplayer games, that aren't the dedicated server type common to FPS games.

3 person multiplayer might be a lot of fun!
However, I have not had Hamachi installed for years...

Is there any specifics to needing certain ports open?  Everything, including speed seemed to be going great until the d'c... I wonder if it was our end, or more DoD servers taking a crap for a few seconds.

I remember reading something about a port in the 9000 range that should be opened for the game, but I can't find the post now that tells the exact port.

Maybe Mr Lemming would like to try and see, maybe it's more a problem of whom you are connected to rather than the dynamic IP address, while I'm on cable (as most people with broadband are in the U.S.) we have dynamic IP address's too, they just don't change as often as dial up users ip address's do.  While dialup users change everytime they dial into their ISP, my IP address sometimes changes once per day, or sometimes I can even force it to by renewing the lease on the IP address through my routers administration pages.  But anyway, Mr Lemming you're welcome to try if we have a go of it tomorrow if you like, assuming that we can coordinate a time slot between all three of us and anybody else that wants to give it a try.
