If I could find NIB version of this game for $19.99 I might bite now...although I'm still thinking of waiting to make sure they make all the GEMs, etc., available in the single player mode...is there a lot of inter-regional trading in this?  That might be cool...*sigh*..what a waste Monte Cristo...what a waste....

pat!

Unfortunately in single player mode you are trading with OmniCorp and nothing else.  (get the mod that let's us adjust the prices of Omnicorp because they were setup by Monte Cristo at really absurdly high prices as enticement to join the planet offer where you could trade with real human players),

However, MC has mentioned in passing that they *might* be adding the ability to trade with your own cities in Cities 2011 which would make your own cities dependent on each other.  Well, it *could* make your own cities interdependent on each other.

As it is now, I use a couple mods, some purely visual, others like the omnicorp price changer almost a necessity (in my opinion).  But as it is now, I really don't play it all that much, as I dont know, I guess I'm in the camp that thinks of CXL as just a way to build pretty looking cities (with the sandbox mod) and that CXL is really lacking a simulation at it's heart.  Of course there are folks on the other side of the fence from me that think it's a great city simulator, I wish I could agree with them.

But it can make pretty designs for cities, I saw one CJ on some site that I came across where the person had made a dragon cities and when you looked at the city from high up in the zoom (which this game certainly has a high zoom) it was like looking at a picture of a real dragon.  Another CJ I came across had created round cities so that each pocket of the city was created as a circle of streets and buildings.  You see it makes great visuals, just lacks the game part of it.  Again that's my opinion and I'm sure others would disagree with me and I'm all for disagreement since it produces opposing view points.
