I think that scenery mod is incredible.  As far as the game goes, I'm still trying to get the hang of on horse combat, seems I'll never be able to shoot my bow from a moving horse and can only barely once in a hundred hit my enemy with a sword while moving.

However I haven't gotten to far in yet as I had to keep restarting new characters as bandits would kick my ass out in the field and take my money until I had no more so I'd start over again and again.  Now though I have a better handle on it I think and kicked my first looters bandits butts and got the bounty fees for it.

horse archery is a skill that will help big time... When I started the aim on a horse sucked while moving, now that i'v upgraded that skill a bit, a got a much more reasonable aim target... but I have more fun charging with my horse and slashing with my sword Smiley Blink

If you want to go the horse archer route, you'll need at least a hundred points in Archery and a couple of points in Horse Archery.  You could also stop your horse far enough away that you have time to take a shot while stationary, then gallop off again - this will give you a smaller reticule.  You probably already know this, but hold down the button until the reticule shrinks to it's smallest before taking the shot.

First person view makes things easier for me at least, so give it a try if you're not already.

As far as aiming a blade, you need to make sure you're just about level with your target before releasing the button.  Due to the physics based nature of the swings, you want the sword to hit at the midpoint of it's arc for the most damage.  It helps if you aim your horse straight at the target, then pull it to one side just as you swing.  This also tramples them and stops them from blocking.  I've easily soloed large groups of infantry this way (as long as your horse has enough armour to survive a few hits).

Yah, no, the hardest thing about the whole horse thing is that it switches controls, so we've got to use the AD keys to steer it left and right instead of letting the mouse guide it like we can with the character.  I think that's what makes it the hardest for me.
