I'm sitting here looking at my wonderful game shelf and I notice Sacred, which I never did play through because the first time I played it way back when it left me pretty cold...but having played King's Bounty and DAO, I think maybe I've developed at least an appreciation for game of this type so I'm thinking of firing it up again.

Does anyone have links and/or files for the patches to Sacred, including the impossible to find online Sacred Plus download?

Also, has anyone played Sacred 2?  Is it better?  Would I be better off finding it online for $10 on ebay and doing that instead of the origional?

Just some thoughts as I play The Guild 2 some more!

later,
pat!

My belief is that if you can find Sacred 2 on the cheap then it's worth buying.

I very much enjoyed Sacred 2 but as usual with most games that I own, I never did finish it.

In my opinion it's not in the same league as Dragons Age Online, but it's a great and more importalntly, a fun game to play. I still resort to playing it from time to time for a couple hours at a time and it's still enjoyable and usually challenging to me.

If I had more gaming time, I'd be playing it far more often than I do, it's visually beautiful, and playwise very enjoyable to me.  I am hoping that the expansion pack eventually makes it's way to North America or to someplace where I can buy it and make it work with my Impulse copy of S2.

Is it throwing an error?

I bought Sacred 2 from Impulse and haven't had any issues installing it on my old Vista computer or my new(ish) Win 7 computer.

Perhaps we can work through this.  It's worth it in my opinion.

I'm not getting any kind of error...it either hangs forever at the Windows Installer setup OR

It begins the install process and literally takes forever to do nothing...I let it 'install' for three hours and the progress only got 1/3 of the way through...Tried about 10 different times and it would never begin a normal install process...tried turning off the antivirus, spybot, firewall, etc....no changes to the problems...

I'd like to get it to work but I'd hate to have to 'buy' it again via download to get it to work...but I suppose that's an option...

Nah, it's really not an option in my opinion.  If it's struggling with a retail install then it's not likely to be any better with the digital version.

I assume you've also tried in administrator mode?  Also, I don't recall your computer habbits, but make sure that you reboot before trying to install it.  I've come across several games now that have had one issue or another when trying to install them and since I never reboot my computer, rebooting my computer allowed the game(s) to install for me.  But when I say that I don't reboot, I mean that seriously as in I reboot only when a Windows update has occurred and it instructs me to reboot, or after installing a game or other program and it instructs me too.  So I may go for months between reboots on my desktop computer.  But you probably shut down your computers at night or when you're done using them so probably not going to help much, but if it's been running all day and been used all day, then try the reboot and install again.

Quite likely it won't help any.  Have you visited the official forums?  I know the developers are out of business, but perhaps the people that bought the IP can help figure this one out too.

I have posted my dxdiag and my problem on the official forum but no answer yet...it's very frustrating as I am wasting 'playing' time w/ trying to install a damn game! Ugh!  I've rebooted and tried admin mode as well...not sure what the deal is, it's a bummer as the game seems at least deep!

Wow, that's just so bizarre.  40 minutes to install.  I'm quite positive that when I installed it this last time it couldn't have taken more than a couple minutes up to 10 to install it all.

I wonder if it's having trouble installing that other program that they install, what's it called....  I'll have to see if I can find it in the control panel, it's the one that adds the extra features to the game like leaves floating down from trees, extra visual eye candy.

PhysX maybe.
