Wondering if anybody has played King Arthur: The Roleplaying Game (what a terrible name), and even though it's not the greatest name, Steam lists it with a rating of 80 which is pretty decent.

I've been watching this game for a month or two before it was released but must have missed when it was on sale on steam for only $20.00, now it's back up to it's regular 39.99 so it's at that price point where I would not buy it unless I know somebody (like all you fine people) that gives it a personal recommendation.

Any personal recommendations around here for it?

looks interesting and the reviews I have read on it make it sound promising... if the price ever drops again, I might take a second look.

Exactly.  I myself have gotten to the point that there are very very few games that I will pay full price for anymore.  No offense to the developers and I realize they need to make their salaries to support their families and children, lifestyles etc, but for me it's just no longer worth paying full price anymore.  While gaming is still predominantly my hobby above all others, it's just gotten to the point that I'm interested, but not interested enough to pay full price anymore.  Games honestly haven't gotten better and more substantial over the past 20 or 30 years, they've been reduced in content in favor of selling me the base game at full price and then follow up with addons that I have to pay more for.  Sorry Mr Developer, Im really not that interested in your products when you do that.

I honestly think it likely that it was the Glory of the Roman Empire game series that bled me to the point where I just don't want to do it anymore.

Glory of the Roman Empire $39.95
Imperium Romanum $39.95
Grand Ages Rome $39.95 or $49.95
Grand Ages Rome: Expansion pack. $19.99

Total: $149.84 (plus tax).

Yeah, Im pretty much done buying at full retail, and when I write it down like this, I actually feel a little taken advantage of.  I think we have here a prime example of what I'm feeling, the expansion for GAR certainly could have been included with GAR, but I guess since they only got 3 games out of the franchise (GOTRE, IR, GAR) they needed to stuff one more in there as an expansion pack for more money since I guess $50.00 wasn't enough already for GAR.  Crying  Looking around cautiously

All of these publishers and developers are going to need to wake up soon.  I don't rightly care if their costs are millions of dollars, they are not special, they need to keep control of their costs the same as I have to in my business, they can continue to raise prices for their game and give less content but all their really doing is alienating themselves as a developer (I dont' mean Haemimont in specifically, but all devs and all publishers) and publishers and making less people want to buy their games.  If they dont' wake up soon it's the end, they're going to alienate themselves right out of business.  People in general are tired of paying $50.00 for a game that they then have to go and spend more on later to get the real full games.

Yea there is too much dissapointment with buying a game at full price only to realize the game is bug central and does not live up to its hype, or offer all that it says it offers (seems like too many games are in "pay full price and get the beta version of the game that we will never actually support fully to make it the game we promised, and instead will come out with an upgraded version (that you have to pay full price for again) for the patch and some gameplay upgrades you should have gotten to begin with", lol)

I think the biggest let down in this area was Empire Total War and Age of Empires III, paid full price for both,

Empire is a fun game (and getting better with the patches) but for $50 it was not worth it just for some graphics upgrades and some tweaks to gameplay.
(and referenceing my quote... they are coming out with Napolean TW, a year after ETW... what is one of the promises? Fixed AI...)

AOEIII was not worth the money at all in my eyes, AOC is one of my favorite games ever, and I had high hopes for AOEIII, but it ended up just being a graphics upgrade with dumbed down gameplay and smaller maps... nedless to say I have not picked up III since I got it and would rather go back to AOC any day.

This game does look cool, but at about a $15-20(25) price range
