LOL

I made me a new playing field for Stronghold Crusaders. I decided I wanted a map to take on both The Wolf and Richard the Lionhearted (should be called the cheatin' bastid).

This was the worst fight I've ever had. Taking out either of these two is an enormous task. Both build mighty castles that take a lot of time to destroy. They are also late bloomers, and don't attack until they're fully developed. And they seem to bloom at the same time, and attack in coordination. Withstanding their assaults is very difficult.

But, I managed. I finally built enough defense to withstand The Lionhearted and amass an army to go after The Wolf. It took me two hours or more to get his walls down. And when I finally got his sorry self off the map, I figgered it was all downhill. Nope. I was way wrong. By this time, The Lionhearted was not going to give in.

I managed to burn his keep. Now, one would think that with his city on fire, and people generator going up in flames would slow the medieval bastid down. But no... somehow, even with the flames, he can generate a new army as if nothing was wrong. Hes a cheater, I tell ya. I lousy, medieval cheater! He probably even has hidden assets in the Cayman Islands!

I held him across the river, at the center ford. I couldn't get past him to burn him once again. It took an additional two hours to get this accomplished. ANd I tell ya, I was one rich Crusader. The money I was getting from iron was 1100+ per tick, and I had a zillion, it seemed, crossbowmen, ballistas, and catapults, wiht a large support group of swordsmen and pikemen ("How many fits on this thing, eh?")

Well, I finally broke through once again, and burnt his city. Little did I realize that he was no longer waiting for me at the center ford. He flanked me, using the east ford, then crossed and burnt me down! That was it! I was done! There was no way I can produce new troops while on fire, but obviously he could.

You shoulda seen his army of mercenary swordsmen! It was huge! He also had a large force of mounted archers. And he also had flame throwers out his arse! Erm... out my arse! I shoulda ate a whole large can of jalapeno peppers! IT HURT!

The most painful thing was hearing "The lord is under attack!". No, wait. The most painful thing was seeing at least 16 mercenary swordsmen on top of the master's quarters, pummeling my King -- king of the losers, that is.

Needless to say, I was at this for about 8 hours, far longer than I want to spend at any game.  And in the end, after this much time, losing was VERY painful! Extremely! But ya know, it was perhaps the most satisfying game I've ever had. I think I might give it a go once again.

 Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Then again, I think I'll go to the store and get that can of jalapeno peppers -- the largest one I can find -- and save me the time I would spend at it.
