Just curious if anybody's heard of this, and possibly have given it a whirl?

I'd not heard of it before but i did download the free trial version of the game.  It reminds me of Real Estate Tycoon, the games are differnt goals and mechanics but the overall feeling of the game reminds me of the tycoon game.

I don't know that I'd be happy playing this, from the trial it seems rather basic and might be lacking some information to give to the player in an attempt to try to make the game seem more difficult than it might really be.  The tutorial maps of the town are VERY small, I don't know if they get larger or not in the non tutorial missions.  One thing that would definitely prevent me from buying it is lack of wide screen support.  The game map is a square box in the middle of my screen when in full screen and the game is very small when in window mode, that kind of disqualifies it from being a purchase for me.

If you get it, please let us know how you get on with it.

In full version you will have big maps, different missions and a sandbox.
I have a widescreen monitor and all is OK.  Enjoy!

welcome to the forums Sparkemon,

So the game takes up the entire width of your widescreen monitor without stretching?  I couldn't find where to change the resolution of the game.  Perhaps I have something set in nvidia's control panel that causes a non native widescreen game to be it's own natural resolution and put black borders on the sides to compensate for it.  All I know is that it wouldn't take up the entire width of my screen, it left aproximately 4 inches on each side of the screen as a black space so that the game would play in the center of the screen in a square box.  I'll have to look further and see if I can find where to switch the games resolution so that it takes up the whole screen maybe.

Its a very detailed city building game, its way better then the new simcity thats out right now. mostly because its very easy and simple to play. Its not hard or complex to play like simcity. I will have to give this game a rating of 10 comparing it to a rating of 3 for simcity. Unlike with simcity with is very detailed Virtual City is also very detailed but its gameplay is simple but yet entertaining to play. Also it includes a tutorial to play.

Just got to get over the tutorial part, it's so so slow.  However the screenshots that they show on the page that Wizaerd listed do show that it might be interesting to play.

I'll have to check my bank account and see if I have enough to pay for EVE Online subsription AND this one too.  I sometimes like the simpler city building games for short bouts of my attention.

Oh and a question....

Does the maps later on (after tutorial maps) open up to where we have to scroll around on the map to see the whole map, or are all the maps contained to one screen and never need to scroll around to view the entire city?

Thanks,

Hi,

I got this game through eMachines game console.   I really like this game.   Once you get past the tutorial, the screens open up and you can scroll around.   There are also 3-4 different sandboxes to play in.   The only thing I don't like about this is that you can't start sandbox with a totally flat play area as in SimCity and Locomotion.

Ok, you talked me into it.  Downloading from GamersGate now.  It'll give me something to do on the train back to Washington.

Okay I have to admit I'm intrigued here...

A couple questions...I see the game is in 2D...is the map rotatable or AT LEAST are the buildings rotatable before you plant them?

pat!
