I've been wondering the same thing myself.  I had to import A-Train 8 from either the U.K, france or Italy (can't recall which), and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on A-Train 9, assuming that it's not going to cost me $100 for it like I think Avalonia came close to paying, mainly because I didn't get too much play time out of version 8 but 9 looks like it's been improved enough to make me want to play it more.

Hey Avalonia

A9 complex? I'd have to disagree with you there.  Perhaps if one is having to struggle with the Kanji and Kana then, yes, to most English speakers it'll take a little time.

But, to me at any rate, It's playing just like A-Train of old only better-looking and far more flexible than ever.  The whole package is just a pleasure to play around with.

Actually, the map editor is much much improved.  I'll do a feature in it at some point.  You can generate a map by setting the ratio of land, sea and mountains.  Click and a new map is randomly generated.

Also the tools for creating your own are excellent: Remember how laborious it was in A8 to build a map? Not any more.  It's really smooth and straightforward to use.

Really, there's nothing complex about it just much more involving and fun.

a-train 9. my father has been very busy  bea testing a new train game

that is coming out sometime in the middle of  2011 and he will not  tell me

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but since it's the middle of 2011, just wondering if there is any news of a new A-Train type of sim/CB in the offing as alluded to in the previous post.

BTW, how does one purchase a copy of A-Train 9 and is there an English version of it available?

With thanks,

Maxter -
there is still no word on a Western release of A9 so don't hold your breath.   Don't know about any similar games.

On my blog I posted that, since I travel to Japan, I was able to buy copies of the game for people and post it on to them when I returned.  I was not making any money from it and only charge for the actual game and postage from the UK, however, due to the cost (I suppose) only 1 person contacted me regarding a purchase.   Still, It was  alot cheaper than getting through online importers; I managed the sale through Ebay.

I'm still building my A9 fansite which will include a full menu translation so playing the J-version shouldn't be an issue for anyone.
