Hello everyone

I just got my copy of the game and have posted a few initial gameplay impressions on the Blog

http://www.a-trainhx.com/blog/?p=438

So far it is looking and playing very well.  It's liberating to now have such alot of control over construction in particular and the power feature looks to be an interesting new level of strategy.

Cheers.

URL Fixed.  Thanks Mark for posting.  I'm still trying to find where I can digitally buy it in the English language where they sell to the U.S.

I'm not into the whole warez thing and don't really care to pay 75E for any game, and so I wait until somebody gets in their right mind and digitially distributes it to the English speaking community.  I know it can't possibly cost them much to translate it to English if they coded the game properly it should be in simple language xml files that almost anybody could translate themselves, but whatever.  I wait and see what Artdink is going to do.

Hi CB

Remember what happened with A8, though.   .   .   .

DHM Interactive negotiated with Artdink to regionalize and distribute A8 in Europe.    The result was a game shipping with less than half of the original trains, an un-fixed bug on one map and precious little support or marketing - I'd love to see some sales figures on A8.

I remember calling Yves Santelli of DHM to chat about the game.    He told me of his desire to 'westernise' the game further by replacing some of the J-Trains with Euro vehicles and adding European buildings.    Honestly, I think A8 lost a piece of it's soul during the regionalisation and DHM underestimated the appetite of western gamers for translated games which retain the very flavour of their country of origin.

Why not retain the Japanese company names in the stock market, take a little more care with the menu translations and support the game post-release?

A translated game without the attempt to make it more euro-friendly would be fantastic - I'd be interested to hear what you think, CB, and any other interested forum members.

On the subject of A-Train availability: I'm in the privileged position of having very close ties with Japan and so getting a copy, and finding my way around the menus and game guide, hasn't/wont pose a significant problem for me.    As things stand it might be a year or more before we see A9 distributed over here - and that's IF it ever happends (I'm thinking of A-Train DS which never saw the light of day in the west).

I may buy a few copies later this year and put them onto Ebay - if it continues to look like there will be no western release.

Hmmm, so I guess that means that Avalonia got a copy of the game that is also in Japanese too?? Avalonia, no rush, whenever you are feeling better, is your game in Japanese too?  I would have to assume it is with what Mark has said.

I would prefer the game to not be "euro-friendly" and retain it's flavor of origin, to me Atrain SHOULD be about the Japanese Trains, buildings and everything else that goes with it.  I'm sure somebody will eventually put some up on eBay, but for me, I really need the text in English, it's not really a matter of memorizing the locations of all the items that I would have to work with, but rather it would just annoy me to not be able to read what it actually says in my native language.  I suppose I could take some basic Japanese language courses or simply study up so that I can read what little I would need to do in the game but I think that would simply annoy me too have to do.

8 was fun, 9 looks really great, now they just need to get off their arses and put it out in English (and any other languages that may need doing), and actually market the game.  Perhaps they feel their market in Japan is large enough for them and that they couldn't be bothered to find a publisher for the Western market because 8 didn't sell as well as they had supposed it might have, which as you pointed out is mostly to blame on them for not properly marketing and supporting the product.

Hey everyone

I'm taking a closer look at the features of A9.  Those with an interest can see my posts here:

www.a-trainhx.com/blog/?p=471

This post deals with one of the more simple yet practical new features, allowowing us to, finally, see the range within which we can place loading/unloading stations and materials yards.

Me again. . .

Continuing my look at the new gameplay features of A9, in this post I focus upon the demolish system which allows greater flexibility and control of what you are removing.
