Well, every day it seems that MC want to put another nail in their own games coffin.

In a recent interview on Simtropolis, it was reported from the big wigs at MC that now the bus system will be only for paying Planet subscribers as well.

Quote
Dirk: It might appear to some that Monte Cristo is being a bit heavy-handed with the requirement to subscribe in order to benefit from all the city-building options. Can you elaborate on the reasons for the limits imposed on the single player option vs. Planet Offer subscribers?

MC: As you know (...) Mass transportation (including buses) will be part of the future features and, as such, will only be part of the Planet Offer. We intend to deliver the bus system this side of Christmas and will confirm as soon as we can.

It is also reported in the beta forums as well by another MC employee that indeed buses will only be for subscribers of the planet offer as their main source of revenue will be the planet offer.

As another user put it:

It is STUNNING how poorly this company is operating.  Seriously, this is as big a blunder on the part of a developer as I can remember...EPIC FAIL is correct!

And that pic is FABULOUS!

Aw man, that sucks big time.  Gosh when they first started asking players what they wanted in the game it all looked so promising.
Glad I didn't pre-order.

So I was just reading some of the blogs on simtropolis.com and apparently the bus system was supposed to be free for all:

Quote
So, to answer in a very straightforward manner: yes, public transportation will be part of the content made available for Planet Offer subscribers. Except for the bus system, as it is mentioned as free additional content for everyone on the Cities XL Information web page.

It's a bit hard to find exact details on what is free to all and what is not.  This is one to avoid, anyway.

Yup, it was originally planned as free for both singleplayer and planet subscribers, and then they changed their minds and made it only for subscribers and even they have to wait until sometimes around Christmas if all goes well.

They really couldn't have alienated anymore customers if they had tried I think.  I've been watching the Simtropolis CXL forums and theres lots of complaints now from people that were not in the beta or even tried the demo.  MC totally blew it on this one.
