Can't wait Big Smiley Grin Laughing !  Love Pirahna Bytes....this should be fun...hopefully it's good enough to build a franchise around...very proud of Deep Silver for sticking by these devs...they deserved it after what JoWood did to them....

Just received my UK Import in the mail!  This seller on eBay is OUTSTANDING.  The UK version comes w/ a separate CD w/ the game's soundtrack on it!  Like a bonus disc!  It also has a solid 70 page manual!

OUTSTANDING!

Plan on reading the manual and then installing and beginning my trek tonight or tomorrow early morning!

I've been trying the demo.  I don't wish to spoil anything for ya.  So I'll just say, after you wake up on the beach, take a walk as far out into the ocean as you can go.

Have fun.

Let me also say for anybody else that is thinking about downloading the 1GB demo.  For 1GB it is VERY, VERY SHORT.  I was at the "end of demo" within about 15 minutes or so.  It didn't really give a whole lot of time to impress me unfortunately.  But I'll say that it seems to play a whole lot like Two Worlds, almost tempting to reload two worlds if it weren't for the fact that I know all about two worlds so it's no longer exciting and new.

Performance on my average computer: eh!  It was okay, not great.  Still felt like I was moving my mouse through mollasses, I dont like it when they tie the mouse to the framerate, it always feels sluggish.  It looks nice but I had to turn off shadows and set AF to Linear to make it more comfortable to play, even then it would jerk every now and then after killing something, or picking stuff up off the ground.  It has cut scenes when you do things like look inside of chests, or cupboards at during those in-game cutscenes you can't do anything but wait until it's over.  It's not like a traditional cut scene, but more like the game takes control of your character while it does the things like examing chests and what not.

Some of the story makes no sence.....

(click to show/hide)

Now, what can I say that's good when I only experienced the game for 15 minutes or so.... Hmmmm, well I guess if the demo was longer, I would have kept playing so that may say something about the game right?

It did take me a while to figure out how to draw my weapon.  Either use the 1 or 2 key, depending which slot the weapon is in, or press your middle mouse button to draw your currently equipped weapon.  I died twice before I figured that one out fighting some enemy animals.  You can also drag stuff from your inventory (accessed with the "I" key) to the 3 through 0 hotkey slots down below or above your health bar (I didn't notice it the first several times I opened my inventory), for easy access.  I suggest things like health potions in the early game so as to avoid dying.

Death is permanant, however the game has key points where it auto saves so life is just an auto save load away.  Thankfully.

Will I buy the game?  Ummm, too rich for my blood.  It will have to be about $29.95 before I'll buy it.  Not that it's not worth the $50.00 price tag but for me, I rarely ventured into the Gothic games far enough to have made the purchase worthwhile, and I don't suspect that I would with this one either.  It's not saying the game is bad or anything but Im more of an ARPG (Action RPG) player rather than a talkie-talkie kind of RPG player, and this game appears it will have a huge amount of dialog and dialog choices for the gamer to respond with.  Just not my thing, I am more of a Diablo 3 player that doesn't have to make all these dialog choices to move the story along.

I wait with baited breath to hear how Pat gets along in this title.

First impressions are a hoot!  I'm about an hour or so in, the mechanics are simple and remind me of Gothic 3 and it has a wonderuflly 'gothic' feel to it, particularly the music....the spoken cutscenes are done very well and I'm enjoying thus far!

more to come!

later,
