Thanks for the link crowebird.  Smiley Blink
Definately sounds interesting and seems like a new direction for the game.  I was sort of hoping for an expansion which would put animals into the game...maybe that will come later.

Yeah, not liking this myself at all.  i had hoped they would give us stuff to do in the towns we already have, things to improve our sims lives, things to add to our houses in building etc.

Honestly I know there are some that like this new direction for the game, but it's really kind of turned me off from the game unfortunately.  I figure if I wanted an adventure game then I'd play Myst, or one of the newer (yeah I know, Myst is like what, 10 or more years old?) adventure games, it just doesn't sit kosher to me with The SIms games to turn it into some kind of psuedo adventure game.

yea it looks interesting but I wish they would focus more on the lives and give us some build options, I want to make any house... which although the sims 3 allows for new features they took out so many items... they need to include an item toolkit to make creating your own items easy with the ability to customize actions (wishful thinking)

as far as the pets expansion goes, I would love this too, but who knows when they come out with it... too bad game developers dont care to much about the satisifaction about creating a quality product anymore, all about the nickle and dime... (sims 3 should have equaled all of sims 2 + improvements, not base sims 2 stripped with improvements)

Honestly, I think the new developers misread the general Sims population, they left out some things that the population as a whole really liked in the earlier sims and have gone down this "adventure" type of sims thing that from what I can gather on the official forum is liked by some but not as a whole in the community.

I just picked up Sims 2 at the local thrift store for $6.00  You may wonder why I spent the $6.00 on it if I already have it?  Simply because this version is on DVD and I couldn't be bothered to reinstall Sims 2 from all those CD's all over again. LOL.  But I guess my main point is I think I'm heading back towards Sims 2.  Sure I'll really miss a lot of things in TS3 like the neighborhoood (although I wont miss the rabbit holes), and being able to line up coffee tables and sofas properly and spin objects in 1° increments, but with all that free great user created content it may make up for it.  I've been putting it off simply because I don't want to be bothered to have to install TS2 from the CD's.  I've gotten spoiled now by DVD games.

The more I think of it however, even with the neighborhoods, I still spend 90% of my time on one lot, when my sims go to work, Im still on the lot improving it, or trying to improve it.  When my sims go to the stadium and I can't see inside of it, then Im back on his house lot trying to improve it in some way so really the whole open neighborhood thing with all these dang rabbit holes just leaves me realizing I still spend the most time on the lot, so what has been improved there?  Sure I might go and watch my sims go fishing down at the ocean for a few minutes but then I just go back to his house and start building or decorating again, so Im really not too concerned about the "load" times since I spend 90% of my time on the lot anyway just like I did in Sims 2.

In my opinion while they made some great strives forward I think they've also taken a few steps back too and seem to be taking a couple more with the expansion.

No offense to anybody that likes the idea of this new expansion, that's fine, everybody that likes it Im sure is in for a big treat.
