Has been a bit quiet, hasn't it?

Doesn't seem to have been much city-building news lately... Once 1404, Tropico 3 and CitiesXL are out (hopefully in a month or two) we'll have some things to talk about   I'm still hopeful for a Children of the Nile 2 announcement as well.

Personally I usually switch genres every so often - nothing but city builders for weeks at a time, then nothing but RPGs or RTS etc.  At the moment I'm in the Strategy RPG mode (King's Bounty, Ascension to the Throne).

Unfortunately, mygameforums just never took off.  Probably the market is just too flooded with that types of site.  (I had hoped that people that visited CivCity: Rome AND CBG had interest in other games and would take the conversation about those games they like over there but they didn't.) Plus people get stuck in their ways and want to converse with people that they know so they don't leave places that already exist where everybody knows them.  Which to me personally is kind of strange, since I'm constantly jumping on new forums all the time.

Anyway,  When you have a forum that is about a small topic (city building games) it's hard to keep people around when there isn't really any great games that have come out for it.  People still regularly visit forums about simcity4 because even after all this time there is new stuff to talk about, hopefully CitiesXL will breathe the life back into the genre and this forum.  As for mygameforums, well... Like I said, it's never taken off, people just weren't interested, I'll likely close it down at some point just to avoid the hassle of cleaning up after spammers.

Obviously Haemimonts newest title didn't bring any life back, it's been done 3 times before so little to talk about if anything.  But Cities XL could do it I suppose if it's really as expansive as people suggest it will be.
