Im still trying to make a decent profit.  I'm finding rogue sims are often out of control for no reason what so ever, for example I have enough venue space for 90+ people, and only a population of 70-/+  Yet they go rogue saying they couldnt find venue space or something similar to that (it's all so limited in reasoning of why sims do what they do in SimCity: Societies in my opinion).

Anyway, 68 sims, about 1/4 of the landscape taken up already and only making a profit of 200 per day after all expenses have been taken out.

CB, that's not a lot of sims at this point.  Get your population up, the profit will come but it's a balancing act until you reach a tipping point and then the money starts flowing.....happy sims are productive sims!

Thanks, I don't know what's going on in this game with the sims happiness, the last game they were all in the top 2 spots of happiness, this games I've got middle which soon turn to rogue then get happy again.  It's quite frustrating not knowing exactly why they are getting mad, like a list of what they tried to do but couldn't do and where they tried it would be SO HELPFULL.  (dare to dream that a developer might actually give complete information).

Have you placed any/many of those mood altering buildings that keep people's moods neutral?

that can happen...

Thanks Pat, nope no mood altering buildings that I know of that would keep people neutral.  However, it is starting to show more of a profit each day, *good golly I hate sundays, when it seems I don't make much money at all, Im guessing few things are open on sundays in the game*.

So anyway, when the game isn't crashing, now Im doing okay with the cash, you are correct there is a definite tilting point where it becomes insanely easy to earn cash in the game, much like most CB style games.

That last update #6 changed all the industry cash flows. Makes it a little harder.

Police and Fire stations used to be good 7 day moneyspinners, but no longer (and why should they? in RL they are not there to make a profit)

As far as I can see, the only 7 day earners that are available as soon as you start are Sugar Cane field and Bed & Breakfast. Others come along later eg Steel Mill and you need to set the Production drive (Red button) to auto to get the benefit

Sims will get upset if they get mugged, so avoid venues that spawn criminals. Likewise avoid State housing.

Best value venue is Soccer Pitch which is cheap and gives 5 happiness points.
Give them a hospital because Soccer pitches cause injury. And the sims get sick anyway. Hospital gives them 3 happiness as well as curing them.
Give them something to buy as well. They get a boost from visiting the venue and another one from what they buy. Mall is better than Strip Mall or Flea Market.

They get the most happiness from Churches etc but they are only open for a short time, and workers cannot visit during the week. 7 day workers will never get there.

Make sure it's easy for the sims to move about. Walking is best if you can. Place workplaces, homes and venues accessible to each other. Leave a gap round each side of buildings and venues and the sims will have a shorter walking path. There are also 2 entrances to many buildings.

If you place several workplaces and homes at once, you have no control over whether a sim's home is close to his workplace and Sims end up commuting all day - each sim lives and works in a specific place.   In this respect it is a little similar to Civcity:Rome.

Makes it quite and interesting game really. But only up to a point. I don't play it anymore - certainly didn't get the expansion.

Sorry for the late reply, just want to say thanks for the response, it should prove usfull if I pick up playing SimCity: Societies again, at the moment Im a bit bored with it really.  Don't really find enough to do in the city to hold my interest so am off playing other games like CotN, and WOW, and Space Colony, Sacred 2 demo, did a brief stint with Sid Meiers, Colonization, another boring game in my opinion and back to Fable The lost chapters.
