I just received a message from Rachelle (Brother's daughter I believe) with the following information which has brought about a major cry session I must tell you.  Please pray for him if you believe in the power of prayer...

Hi Adam (I think I've contacted you once before)
We are trying to contact many of Uncle Max's Net friends. Thank you for inquirying. It's been difficult since his personal PC(s) were being possibly updated and not assembled, for reasons only known by him (??) I've just recently figured out how to access his personal email, it is much easier when he can tell me what to do. About Uncle M's health, he's been hospitalized since his fall and stroke from early June.  We hope and pray he responds to the proposed therapies as he needs to recover to specific goals from the paralysis caused by the stroke before any physical therapy for the hip and pelvis fractures can be administered. He's very frustrated by the inability to communicate as his normal self and this pains us the most, we can only imagine his perspective. I wanted to try reading emails to him so thankfully I finally figured the email accessing out hoping this will help his recovery.  Too, I hope this helps with your concern, since so many em ails I've read tell us how many great pals he connected with online.  So thank you so much for caring, I will check his email at least once a week until school starts in Sept. maybe by then some of the family will be able to arrange house-sitting and continue doing the same.
Our appreciation
Rachelle

I am truly saddened by this news and don't mind saying that I truly do miss Max, I feel like he is part of my family as so many others of you feel like my family and can only hope that he pulls through this to make a miraculous recovery.  We all know that he is a strong willed person and I hope this continues for him.

Since they will be trying to read his emails, hopefully some of you that can muster up the strength to stay positive and upbeat can write to him in email so that his family members can read it to him in hopes of inspiring him to get better from this stroke.

I hope and pray that he can make a full recovery from this trajedy, and I know that people can, my Aunt had 3 strokes and it took her a long long time but she got back to the point where people could understand her speech again and get around, unfortunately she then had a major heart attack and passed away (we always figured that God kept saying, Nope, it's not time yet, Sorry about the stroke(s), you still havn't done what you were sent to earth to do, take this stroke as a warning that you need to get on the ball and do it (what ever "it" was), and I guess when she finally did, "it" we figured God (or the powers that be) finally said, okay, it's time for you to come home now), but the point is that with love of your friends I believe that people can recover with the willpower of friends rooting you on and your own inner strength.

If you know Max and want to email him, PM me if you don't have an email address for him and I will PM you the one that I use for him as it wouldn't be right to post it to the forum and let Max or his family get spammed by doing so.

Oh my goodness, this news is incredibly saddening  Crying.  I miss reading Max's postings a lot as he is so much a part of this forum.  I hope in the not too distance future his recovery goes very, very well and we once again see lots more posts from him.  Miss you Max!!

To be honest I actually thought it was worse, and was hoping it wasn't.  I mean the stroke and broken hip is bad enough (terrible and it didn't seem like Max to just up and disappear one day without atleast some PM's to his friends to say later on), but I honestly thought that maybe he had passed away and was dreading the news eventually trickling down to us, Im saddened of course, and wish him a full recovery, but in a way Im elated that it wasn't something like a major heart attack that would have completely taken him from us all.

that's true CB, very true indeed...at least this way he can rehab and get back in the game, although recovering from strokes is a varried and difficult thing.  But yes, we can certainly count our blessings!
