If you buy it, please tally up the new buildings and see how many of them there really are.  I mean you know we have like 3 of dream houses and 4 types of this, that and the other one, so if anybody gets it, please tally up how many new buildings there really are, i.e. not recolors of the same house (like the dream house).

Thanks,

I'm interested to know how the "sprawling theme parks" and the "pristine ski parks" actually work out.  If they managed to get different weather at different altitudes, or if ski snow parks can only be on a winter type of map, or if the low lands can have regular landscape and the mountains (which is where I would assume a ski park would go) can have snow landscape.

Here is what EA says about the game includes:

    * Create exotic destination cities that feature attractions and amenities that visitors will love—and sometimes dread!
    * Bring in tourists and take your city from no-star repugnance to five-star charm
    * From sprawling theme parks and tropical beach resorts to country hiking trails and pristine ski resorts, create the ultimate customized destinations
    * Five new city archetypes: Family Fun, Adventure, First Class, Religious Retreat and Forced
    * Expanded transit functionality, including air and water travel
    * More than a 100 new buildings, and 50 new special Sims
    * Includes all updates to SimCity Societies: new strategic modes, new disasters, new crises, new scenerios

I'll see what I can do when I get to it...problem is i have a TON of user mods in my system so I'd be hard pressed to say what's in the expansion!  I've purchased my copy but the game isn't available for download just yet.

The thing that REALLY has me excited about the expansion is this:
    * Five new city archetypes: Family Fun, Adventure, First Class, Religious Retreat and Forced

That to me basically doubles what I can try to do creatively...for me, this game is less about 'challenge' and more about letting my creative mind completely free!

I admit they have picked my curiosity with the "religious retreat" archetype.  I can't even fathom what that will be like.

haven't really checked things out much but I did turn it on quickly...first things i noticed...a button to activate or deactivate the expansion in one fell swoop..a NICE touch...a button to go to a list of landmarks to include in maps...more detail later...some pre-set scenarios....actually CB, it's like the whole game has been redone!

very nice indeed!

there's a manual, too...i'll check it out today and maybe post the .pdf for you to peruse....

Interesting, thanks for posting that.

Taxi's, I wonder if that will eliviate the problem of how long it takes people to get across town and find that the venue has already shut down for the night.

I think you are right though, $29.99 is a LOT for an expansion pack for this title even though it contains a fair amount of content, it's still a lot for an expansion pack.

Hmmm, imagine a real life taxi telling someone they can't get a ride because they aren't a tourist. Laughing
