At this time I don't have any plans on changiing the them here over to the darker invazion theme, I may try it out personally and see what it's about, but theres been too many modeifications to this individual theme that having to do them over again all by hand to the invazion theme would just be too buch work for me to make it a public release theme on CBG..

But, never say never.  Perhaps for those that don't care about the extra mods then one day I may make it an option that they can choose if they like to but it will never be mandatory that we use any other theme.

Hello and Welcome Gottcha!  I just wondered because it is on the list of theme's available on this site.  When you select it, you get the main page, but there's nothing I can see which allows you to select the Forum.  Anyway, I didn't realize that this would be so much work to change.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for pointing that out, you're not actually supposed to be able to see that theme changer anymore, it was supposed to be disabled after the christmas theme change was over.  But just to make sure, you're talking about on the left side of the screen where it says, Theme Chooser and has a pic of the theme and an option to change it right?

The likelyhood of why you didn't see any changes is because when the individual forums were setup, I ticked the option to override the users choice of a theme for each forum because well.... If I used just the default theme which some people have written me recently about to tell me that it's pretty unusable then I can add tons of great mods to the forum, not only to make my lfe easier but to make the experience more entertaining for the visitors but each theme (non default theme) has to be hand edited to add in those mods so to try to keep many themes updated for the mods that I've added would be a right chore.

But still, I may give people the option to use it by unticking the override button for each forum and let the users decide, if they don't mind not seeing the little mods that are in this forum then they can use the invazion theme and keep all the sites looking consistant (with the exception of the wiki, that will always look different).

There is something to be said for consistency... Also, it IS really stark here (really light) as compared to MGF (really dark).  When switching between sites, it is a good thing to be consistent.

Same way with the CivCity: Rome forum site.

What do you mean by "not seeing the little mods that are in this forum"?  What kinds of things are you talking about?

Well first off I'll say that the CivCity: Rome site will never be re-themed.  It's so mod heavy that it needs to be using the default theme that it uses.  Plus to be honest I have zero interest in that site.  For a while there I tried giving it away and couldn't even get the people that were qualified to host it themselves and were capable of just running the site.  There were only 3 candidates, all three of them owned their own servers and or had an account on a hosted server but none of them wanted the site.

I grew tired of complaints of "this doesn't work for me" or "that doesn't work for me" or "the game doesn't work for me" so when the developers PM'd me and told me in no uncertain terms that there were no plans to do an expansion or sequel it killed my interest in the site, and doing any mods for the game.  I figure that if the developers are not going to do anything to improve the game through either mods or you know, expansions or sequels then I have no interest in their game any more, which is the nice thing about CBG and MGF, theres so many games that can be talked about compared to CivCity: Rome which is pretty much a one town pony so it's a good thing to have both CBG an MGF since theres so many games that can fall under them that it makes them have a permanant life and for me an interest in them to see them improve but more importantly just to keep conversing with the friends that I've made over here which of course mainly came from the CivCity: Rome site.

So anyway, there are so many mods on the CivCity: Rome site that the theme will never (I feel I can say that with 100% confidence) change unless someone else takes it off my hands and changes it themselves.

Okay so for CBG Im trying to think of the little mods without having to go into the administration panel to look them up, heres one example, at the bottom of every message you can see what games people own, this is considered a mod an would have to be added into the new themes coding for people to see it under any other theme.  Then there was (I think it's temporarily disabled) a bookmark mod where people can bookmark certain threads and or messages on this site and it shows up in their own personal bookmarks stored for them on the site.  Then there was a shop mod that I have installed on CBG that lets users earn site credits for posting new threads and or messages and can then spend those credits in our shop for silly little things like adding to ones karma or changing a persons personal display slogan, silly stuff like that but which is fun.  That would also need to be hand coded into the new theme which takes a lot of time.

Anyway, I guess you know how well our system works if you can see the "theme chooser" on the left side of blocks when you're not supposed to be able to, it tels you how fine tuned and well working our site is HAHAHAHAHA.

Anyway, Im working on making it so that  the users can choose the Invazion (now known as the MGF) theme from the theme chooser today.  It's just a lot of tedius work of opening each forum in the admin panel and unticking one selection box then saving it, doesn't sound like it should take long but the sites been runing at a snails pace for a long time now, but once that's done I can tick one more box that will let user actually make use of the theme chooser if they want to see the CBG site with the darker mgf theme but witout seeing any of the extra mods that are installed as I really don't want to get invollved in having to add in all the mods to the new theme, it's just too much work for me to do again.

Hello and Welcome Another option, would just be to darken the color on this forum a little bit...but I don't know if that's possible...
