Hello and Welcome I see that you've moved Europa Universalis: Rome over to the new site.  I could be wrong, but I thought this was part of the Anno series games.  I would think they'd need to be in the same place...or are you moving all of the Anno series?

Question...When posts are archived, are the screen shots lost? If so, is there something I can do to save them for the forum before you archive?

 Hello and Welcome  Hi kat

Quote
I thought this was part of the Anno series games.

Nope.. not even a whisper of association with the Anno series.  EU Series is a Historical Strategy game.. it has evolved somewhat over the last few releases...graphically. To simplify the description .. I think of EU games as a "chess" game using Countries as the game pieces.

Anno's on the other hand... have always been Waterworld based Empire/Trade Builders.  Noteably the criteria of citybuilding is present..as the player "plops" the various building units.  Thus this is what I base my reasoning on what a "building game" needs to do..to be considered listed and recognized as a City building game.

Sim builders...like City Life *duh* SIMCity.. though they are about City Building, and rightfully meet player control of what is being "Built" could have either designation.  To make things simple.. City Builders should be found on the site that fits the <citybuilding> URL.. ALL games outside that definition should be some place else...  hopefully at MGF for a new home.

..does that clear up your inquiry..just a little bet..   wink

When they are archived the photos go with them and they stay in tact on the original forum (CBG in this case) and only the text gets moved.  In hind site I should probably take all the screenshots and attach them to the new posts in MGF and might do so as time permits.

As Max stated the EU games are defintinely a strategy game to be sure.  EU 3 was / is a heavy strategy game and one beyond my comprehension, I hope that the rome one is more in line with the mass populas.

Most anyone who has played the game..should say the same thing CB.  The Rome offering looks to do the same.. even the Demo is overwhelming.   wink

About screens.. I personally don't like the forums "space" they take.. I'd prefer opening a link to a Image database ..separate from the text commentary.  I've created forums with both styles and this <link> one was my preference.. load times, and content management. since a database is easier to work with deletions where "image no longer available" can simply be posted.. plus possibly adding additional links to archived imagery as file space is much more liberal nowadays.

I too prefer internal file storage so that I know what it is that Im storing and if'n it's inappropriate then I can delete it, or after 365 days of inactivity it can be removed to save space, plus pages load quicker when we're not waiting on imageshack to dish up the images or whomever the person hosted the images with.

I forgot about the demo, I must try again when my mind is feeling less cluttered, at the moment all I have is file transfers and ftp, and admin and artistic type art work completely cluttering my thoughts even though I keep trying to empty my mind.

Perhaps a nice single player game of capitalism II will clear my mind, I know it use to when it first came out.

That's mainly what I was basing my concern in the matter... and the maintenance is much easier.

Clear your Desktop..laptop..etc..*hehe*  a pillowtop should be the only thing near your cranial area next.. you've earned a good rest.

Hey..I should *practice up* in Capitalism II some more..before you clobber me the next time we play MP..  Taz and I had a good time in Pat III tonight..   wink  ..and don't fret over EU Rome.. you're not missing anything earth shattering..   Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I took a rest last night or was it this morning, must have been around 3AM or so that I loaded up Capitalism II and played for about 1.5 hours and had a nice rest.  To some players they might think it rather odd that a person could be resting while playing Cap II, but for me it's actually a very relaxing game.  Especially more so when I play singleplayer since if I really flub up (like my first game explained below) I can just restart, no harm, no foul.

On my first attempt this morning I built way too quickly, I was short on cash, so I issued as many shares of stock as I could and then burned through that cash too, then I made the really bad mistake of going to the bank and taking out the maximum loan, then burned through that money too, it  was either close down some business's or declare bankruptcy.  I decided to try to pay off the loans by selling off every business that I had started regardless if they were showing a profit or not.  When I was done selling them all I was able to pay off my HUGE bank note, and had about 4M left over.  I attempted to start with just that small 4 million dollars but before my retail shop could show a small profit I was broke again and declared bankruptcy.  I quit that game and started a new one that I've got saved and it looks like it will be a good one, Im showing a profit on most business's, and overall, and the only thing I wish I had done with the starting choices was to make 7 competitors instead of 4 and make 2 lands instead of 4, because that many lands is hard for me to keep track of, plus for some reason the people in London don't want to buy imported frozen chicken, eggs, steak or food stuffs in general that can be produced at a farm in a foreign land, no matter how much I lowered the price they just refused to buy any.  Anyway, relaxing good times.  I really love CAP II.  It's really such a deep great game.  I sure wish they would come out with a CAP III but I feel there is little hope for that in these times of FPS.

Laughing  Well CB.. I do pretty much do the same in CapII.  I DO hate going Broke..and if you get a batch of Aggressive AI..they'll whittle you down..out...and manipulate you into Bankrupcy ( I hate to dumb them down too much..)  but it is tempting.  wink

I have several games where I played for the 200 year max..  I've made the Billionaire list..but never the anywhere near the top.. If I make the Waltons..Michael Dell range..I feel OK about my game strategy.  Cap II is a very relaxing game in that it allows you *time* to think before you leap into something.. hehe though sometimes all the *thinking* in the world doesn't sell Cigars at the MiniMarts..   Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I glad to see you having some FUN too.. that's the most important factor.   Smiley Blink

Hello and Welcome When posting my answer to this last evening, the electric went out, and wasn't turned on for almost 5 hours.  I gave up and went to bed.

Anyway...I don't know what I was thinking...I guess that I got that impression from previous posts that perhaps compared the Anno series..

Sorry...Kat Smiley Blink

Crying  POWER FAILURE!!   Yikes.. I hate to even think about it.  I have a UPS backup..but I dread the day I have to use it.  Hope your PC is well protected...Mm?  you have a Lappie..so that too if you were using AC.

Taz and I are getting ready for another stint in Pat III .  ..and as for EU compared to Anno.. for some players both games were not their style so would easily be considered in the same Disc Heap..  I have many games in my collection that I can say this about.. though they are vastly different in gameplay etc.   wink
