Thumbs Up Woo Hoo Trader Taz!!  ..has that "catchy" ring to it..doesn't it?

I have advanced to "trader". Is there a tangible benefit to this or is it just a mile marker?

This means you've advanced in Status(ie Wealth) with both your town and the League.  They both have to agree that you are headed in the right direction to become..well "One of Them."  They know how much money you have in the Bank (they own the Banks hehe) and How many ships you have..so no secrets are kept from them.

The Benefit of this increase status is you'll start getting proposals(not just marriage)..asked to help in blockades..things to Test your Loyalty to the Hansa.  Also you'll start getting offers from "old friends" that could put you reputation in jeopardy.. like the " Hiding goods." message and other similar type messages.

hehe

A marriage broker offer to find me a suiter  (for $$). Is this a good idea

Marriage is a costly adventure..you have to provide lots of "party items" just like you do in the Town Celebration requests..  I wait to marry when I'm ready to spend that kind of loot..sometimes I just "forget" to marry.. too busy running around everywhere. hehe  But you can receive a "dowry" from the Bride/Groom's father.. for example I got a Snika(almost ready to sink) full of Pitch... what-a-Deal that was.  <giggle>

Do the kinds of buildings you can build in a cerain city increase as the game progresses? I'm not thrilled with building what I can at this point in Leubeck.

Each city has the same Residential buildings..just different style.  Then Each Town has specific Industries that can be Built.. for example Only a few Towns can make Wine..Cologne is the only one where it is effectively profitable.. Ripen can but not as well priced.  The game is "balanced" this way ..so you have to trade..have to supply certain Cities with goods they lack.  Working out a way to accomplish supplying all the Towns with sufficient goods.. is why I still play the game..there's always another strategy to try out.

As for not being thrilled with what Luebeck offers.. it actually can become the Largest city in the Hansa.  You have a have dozen Towns close by that will need Iron Goods plus you have the Land Trade to Hamburg..  In some of my games I have slowly worked up to having a dozen Iron good shops..I supply my shops with cheap Pig Iron from Oslo and Lagoda so my price on Iron goods is lowest in the League to produce.  Thus I can out sell the other traders in any town the requires Iron goods.

So making Luebeck do what it is capable of doing is up to the Player.. once I went into the Fishing Business and did just as well.. you will be diversified into several businesses in most games..so again it is your choice. Smiley Blink
