   Hi Taz..

To be brutally honest... I'd suggest playing a few Open Games first.  The Campaign was fun once you have a good grip on tactics.. that you can use..plus realize what the AI is doing in return. 

If you are just curious about the campaign.. there's no harm in diving into it.  My custom maps are heavily scripted..similar to those in the Campaign, so there's always time for BIG challenges as you figure out the inter-workings of the game.
