I'm abusing these forums because I can't find any guides, but a bunch of people here seem to play.   :)

How do I transfer goods between my ship and my trading center/warehouse?  I can't see any way to do it.

 Flaming Mad

It was *RIGHT THERE*.   On the right.   During trading.   The one place on the screen I'm *not* looking when I'm trading.

I'm very angry at myself.   :)

Thumbs Up  Glad you got this sort rlpowell ..the ingame UI menus are condensed..  it took me awhile to figure them all out.

A few tips.. buy sabres for your sailors..as this makes defending against Pirates more successful.  Once you get use to what the prices are ..then you can setup Auto trade routes which will fund your expansion.

ONE tip I ALWAYS give to new players..IS:  There's a Man dressed in Black who comes out of the City Hall building.. so when he is out "checking on stuff" never go into the Tavern ..where you can contact different characters.  Wait until he returns to the Hall and then you can do whatever you please.

Second Tip.. Take a Bath once a Month MINIMUM..  just doing these two things will save you from salacious charges..and bathing is a reputation modifier.  You can bathe in ANY town that has a Bath..that doesn't matter.

Hope this is OK to divulge.. as I found out the hard way and it wasn't very much fun becoming parted with my hard earned cash.   wink

Can you explain that in more detail?  Who is it, and what difference does going to the tavern make?

Oh! I see ...sorry I wasn't trying to bait you into an quandary over your game progress.

So here's what happens.

The MiB guy will report your activity.. if you are viewed as mixing with low-life's in the Tavern.  You'll eventually be Charged and Fined by the City.  These are hefty fines and should be avoided ..especially when you cannot afford them.  The Charges will vary.. One says "You claim the World is Round...etc"  go figure

You need to continue increasing your Reputation..and you can measure this by seeing what the Townpeople wandering around are saying about you.  If you progressively build wells..expand the Church (all when you can afford it) ..then you will rise in the ranks of your Home City.. but the other Cities need certain products and if you provide them "regularly" then your overall Hanse reputation will Rise.  You can note this when you join the Guilds that are in Specific Hanse Towns.. not all towns have them (trading centers only).

The game is deep and has much to offer if you play into it.. I have one map that has 60 hours of "applied" strategy and I'm still finding ways to improve on it.

I hope you find the challenge of this game rewarding for the time you invest in it. As dated as the game might appear.. it still is the ultimate Trade Sims and I play them all.  Agreed Happy

If I didn't answer thoroughly or with clarity..just point it out and I try to do better.   wink

Hi Kat,
Glad to hear you have Patrician III coming  Agreed Happy

I just received it, and I can see that it is very complex, as Max says in a later post.

There is trading (primary), city building, farming, manufacturing, and Max has hinted that you must do some RPG too. (bathing)   Laughing   This one is going to keep me occupied for a looong time.

I gave up on IR, couldn't get the last tablet in Colonia Julia done in time, and there is one more time line game after that that you can't play until you have finished "Julia".  arrgg  Flaming Mad
I was hoping one of the local gurus would do a walk-through, but I guess they are too busy. I did play a lot of the other scenarios that are not time line, and enjoyed the game.

What about shore leave?  Do I just dismiss the sailors and re-hire them later?

Smiley Blink  That's a great question Robin

No..do not dismiss your crew.  Just stay in any port for the period of time it takes for the UI's display of the Sailor's faces to turn to a smile again,  (Red) is when they are ready to refuse to sail.

Also note that the AI allows the sailors to play around occasionally..like they do in RL I guess.  If you are hauling wine..it is possible for them to send you a letter about not being able to sail because they got into this wine.. *hic* and can't operate the ship properly.. but for you not to worry they'll get back on task by themselves.

TIP: Always check your messages from the Hansa.  The Official one can make requests or report things that might implicate you ..good and bad.

Ore Taz:  I just barely made the C Julia Map.. and agree it needs a good walkthrough for assisting those who struggled.. it is one I won't try again for fun that's for sure.

I'm glad a few folks are trying out Patrician.. I called it my "retirement" game as it is an Endless timeline.  I've made some neat Custom maps.. I say this because I like to play them myself.. *pat on the back* ..hehe

Patrician cannot be "learned" in a few tries.. you need to keep improving your decisions and knowing when and where you have opportunities to gain the wealth and power..and hang on to it.. as the game keeps you on your toes.

Now..the really BONUS..in this game is when you get to the point where you can afford to Build Entire NEW Towns... when I got to that point I nearly fainted from relief.  For now I think only pat can imagine that thrill the game dishes out.   Smiley Blink

I hope I can answer any questions about this game coherently enough ..so you have the best possible chance to enjoy the game as it should be..  so please ask ANY thing.. Pat is a really good player..and I have been friends with the Devs for many years.. one fellow Mirko.. was an outstanding individual..though he no longer is with Ascaron..very sad deal.
