Hello and Welcome This has been really interesting, CB!

I guess the moral of the story so far is...it doesn't matter where in this world you live, it only matters on the "gyrations" the connection has to go through to get connected!

Sandra and Giocel must be using an ISP, not a satellite connection.

Just interesting to me.

I guess I should add that to my tech connectivity vocabulary kat.. <I'm teasing>  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I have a very fast Cable connection.. which when I asked why it's so much better than most.. The cableguy said it is because I don't have that many customers to "share" the connection..plus little opportunity for that to ever happen.  On top of it I'm very close to the ISP distribution point.  So I have a fairly instantaneous connection...with no downtime since I've had this connection.   <fingers crossed>   wink

My laptops have wireless.. but only because the kids are setup to use this type.

In the old days, companys like the DSL companies use to spout out commercials showing how slow the cable connection got when too many people in your apartment building were using it.  Not once have I ever seen such a slow down and now you'll notice that the alternative solutions such as DSL don't put out these commercials anymore because if there was any truth to them, there no longer is.

My connection is super fast, in fact the cable company turned up the bandwidth for all it's customer around here a few months ago, while we use to download stuff at about 256kb in the beginning, it soon went up to 600kb and now I regularly download at 1.2MB which is plenty fast and iM not at the top tier of the bandewidth, if I wanted to pay a bit more I could get something like 6MB download speeds which I really just don't need at this point in time.

Thumbs Up  I agree about the "DSL" claims.. the company who use to put those Ads no longer does..so much for that deal.

My DL speed is just under 3MB..pretty solid IF the servers I'm acquiring content has the capacity to match my potential.. On example..When I dl'd The Witcher..which is pretty large.  I went to freshen my Java..and check the News.  I hear this *ding ding*  "Your Download has successfully completed"..  At first I thought I must of dozed off... hehe  So I'm very pleased with my connection service too.  Sure beats the old days..dl'ing all night long for a few MBs of content.   wink

I was watching a program on the TV last night about the USA cable/broadband services, apparently they're the lowest speeds in the world?

I have a 4meg BB soon to be updated free to 10MG, for £25 per month(which I think is a lot) if I wanted I could have 20MG but that's about 10 quid a month dearer.

Yes Kat I'm with an ISP, have been from the start (about 12years), but in the UK I think everyone has an ISP (seeing as it's such a small country  Big Smiley Grin Laughing) there's no wilderness to hide in, no outback to secrete oneself away Big Smiley Grin Laughing
more's the pity Laughing
