Cool.  Thank you. Im such a pack rat that I gather and keep hold of everything.  At the south enterance to the rebel cave there was a bunch of junk laying around and I picked it all up figuring there must actually be a reason for it as it seemed quite unlikely to just have been put there for atmosphere, it seemed too specific.

Smiley Blink Yep...  I agree cool info from a real Gothic trekker...hehe

I played a few hours tonight..whoa..it takes me fooor -ever to level up.  Maybe RhiannOn has a special brew I can conjure up so I can get into a double digit level.. no one pays any attention to me at such lowly levels.   wink

It is good to check places where slaves frequent because they do have tools sometime.. at first all I was finding was brooms... hehe   Laughing

But just to be honest..and not meant to be critical..Two World's game world is scaled and has the look of realism.   I'm wondering if RhiannOn has a comparison opinion between the two games?   Smiley Blink

In fairness, I have only played a little bit of the Two Worlds  demo so I feel I don't have the right to compare yet.
I am waiting for the price to drop a bit more before I purchase the full game.
However, if I compared Gothic 3 with Oblivion (tho I don't really like comparing games at all)  I would go for Gothic3 in the play factor and story line.  Oblivion tho very beautiful and has those wonderful horses to ride and lots of good plugins available  Happy Dance is missing "something", but I can't quite put my finger on it.  I would have liked to have seen more longer game play with the main story line with Oblivion and especially with Shivering Isles where I felt quite short changed.  Crying

Gothic 3 (for me) is a nose ahead in gameplay and the world is full of living, moving critters and plants. I especially like how the devs have placed rocks and where the dirt road has stones willy nilly about...The whole world is so very natural looking and looks like it has been done with a lot of thought and care. I give the devs 10/10 for the environment.
But the bottom line is, I am fortunate that I can play these great games and enjoy these worlds of fantasy created by very talented people. Agreed Happy

If you "knock" out a slave you can grab his gear, he will get up and use a new tool of the same make.  Bit of a bottomless pit really  Laughing

Thumbs Up  Fairly stated RhiannOn..and I can appreciate the wisdom in not trying to compare games.. each is its own little world..respectively.

I do think you will like the Two Worlds flora and fauna.. as I mentioned the scale is so unique to resembling a Real viberant World.  At least it kept me in awe when I first started trekking around gathering my goodies..  wink

hehe I wasn't really trying to be funny..these things just happen to me it seems..  If I'm looking for a Big Ol nasty Sword.. so I can have a chance in the next mission..I'll probably find a rusty n broken Feather Duster damage-type to do the job.   Laughing

If I were to compare the three of these games, I'd go something like this:

1st choice: Two Worlds.  Theres just something about the game world that I like.
2nd choice: Oblivion.  I liked Oblivion but I didn't love it.  I almost always felt like I was lost which is the same feeling I got out of their predecessor game.
3rd obviously for me would be Gothic III.  Im just not seeing the same beautiful environment that RhiannOn and Im sure many others are seeing.  They have made the pickable plants stick out like sore thumbs, they are overly bright so that you can't even miss them  and of course not having a horse to pony about on is a bit of a let down, especially when they are already in their 3rd version of the game.

However in all fairness, the horses in Two Worlds are just about all but usless anyway.  I still use mine purely as a 4 legged storage container and nothing more.  I actually get a little ticked off everytime the game loads and it brings up some tip about how fighting on horseback against those that are on foot is very effective when I can't get the horse to maneuver into the right position to begin with to be able to fight the opponent.

I'm sure I just need more time in Gothic III, however Im not really sure just how many of "The End" I really want to see before I want to run out of the room screaming obscenities at the computer, for me it's not funstration, it's true frustration.  I absolutely hate that I've now killed the orcs at the farm but then managed to get killed by a wolf 3 times in a row.

The game reminds me of the Monty Python movie "holy grail" with the rabbit in the cave, I keep expecting to run into some mean bunny rabbit that will kill me too.  But sadly most of all, the game just makes me feel a bit nauscious when I try to play it with the way things move around which is quite likely going to be the real game stopper for me.  I'll likely try it a couple more times when I don't feel quite so nauscious (from playing the game HAHA) and see what happens.  But you know in Oblivion I can play on high settings and get great performance, in Two Worlds I can also play on high settings and get great performance (have to turn off shadows however, but that's always been a performance thief for any computer I've ever owned) but in G3, I've turned everything to medium and then tried the custom options to turn certain things even lower but it still feels like Im getting really bad performance which kind of wiggs me out a bit.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy it, as I can see that you all do, it's maybe just one of those RPG's that just isn't for everybody.

Smiley Blink  I think your assessment shows that not every RPG tugs at the same heart strings for each player.  I flat out didn't get anywhere with Oblivion..I was always turned around..confused and doing something the wrong way.  Got to have Fun or.. I just can't do it.  Gothic(s)..  I probably liked the original.. since coming off Sacred and Diablos it may have been a break in that vane.

I know that TW's and the Horse issue is a deep and painful one.  For myself..I managed to use them for "safe" riding excursions.. I've never even attempted fighting on horseback.  Once I get a "pumped up" Bow along with good quiver damage..I'm good.

Gothic performance is the age old resource depleting issue.  I noticed after two..three hours of continual play that when a lot of action started my box *blinked" for a sec like it was thinking about this before it commenced.  It is a monster game (resource calls) ..anyone with less than 2GB of Mem will suffer somewhere along the way.   wink

I have found it so interesting reading both of your threads and the different way we look at things.

I agree about the plants in Gothic CB.  At first they sorted of blinded me too, however I got use to it and after a while they sort of  merged into the landscape where it was vegetated.  Have you seen the plants in the snow? Big Smiley Grin Laughing
they do stand out like a dogs hind leg  Laughing, but didn't bother me too much.

Here are my marks on  horse riding:

Oblivion horses. Very good, tho turning the horse took a bit to get use to.   8.75/10

(From the demo) TW horse  5/10.

Gothic 3 - no horse  0/10

Best horse riding I have come across in a game is a western first person shooter  called "Gun"
horse movement  fluid and very professionally done.  10/10.   I feel you both would have had a lot of enjoyment with those horses.

At the moment Im really looking forward to Sacred II, I believe there will be the horses making a return to the game as they were in the first sacred game and actually done probably the best for it's time (all my opinion of course).  Having well behaved and well implemented horses in an RPG in my opinion really adds to the game overall to give a real sence of being in there and having something that one must care for, it can really enhance a game, however in Two Worlds it was more of a detriment then anything else due to the poor execution.

I have to wonder if that will change in the addon that they are working on for Two Worlds right now.

Smiley Blink  I sure like having Horses in any game where there are wide open spaces.  In TW's I just didn't allow them to become an issue...and I collected quite a few of them..none got killed..and some rode better than others.  I found one or two were skiddish if too close to other creatures..even if it was another horse.  THE Orc mutant types seemed to be the best natured and good to ride in the open countryside.  The rest needed to stay on the roadways for best rein control.  I had one Bandit horse..that I literally had to back (in reverse) most of the way..forward direction didn't have any speed control..all out speed or nothing..  so what did I do?..  I walked and "whistled" it all the way to my Home pasture.  The best Free horse is the one you get in the little village before Cathalon.. Four Stones or the next closest village.

I had some input with the Original Sacred..and I thought the Horse unit application could cause problems..but most players were all giddy over their presence.  They were for the time well done graphically and work pretty well..given the older tile based coding that was used in the game.  I do hope some of the good things that made the original Sacred special will be updated in future revelation of the game.

I can't state too much of an opinion about Oblivion.. as I've said before, I just didn't get this game.. and I refuse to play in a confused or uninformed state... I think CB can relate to this condition.   Big Smiley Grin Laughing ..as he's eluded to it happening to him in certain games.
