I managed to see the lunar eclipse this year. This was the first time in years. Either the weather was in the way or I was absorbed with my computer and missed 'em over the last 15 years or so.

It was truly spectacular! It was very beautiful. But more intriguing to me is what the ancients thought when they witnessed these. I spent more time thinking about this than what I saw. The visions of what might have happened back in ancient Greece or Rome held me more captive than the beauty of this.

Did anybody else see it?

I hope you didn't look at it with naked eyes, and if you didn't how did you see it, through some special glasses or with a reversed mirror Big Smiley Grin Laughing Big Smiley Grin Laughing
The ancients used to think the Gods caused it, and had to appease them with hemp and silk and tea. Sticking Tongue Out
I didn't even know there was an Eclipse, would it have been over here in the UK, the last one I 'saw' (through a special thingy) was a few years back, it was a total eclipse and went all around the world, Looking around cautiously there was a lot of media hype about it. Big Smiley Grin Laughing

It was a lunar eclipse, not a solar eclipse. You don't need any special viewing apparatus.

We managed to just see the very end of it.  Over here, the wind was howling at what must have been about 60mph and the dust from the desert had kicked up so much that it obscured whatever viewing we might have gotten between the rain clouds.  But at least we did get to see the very last bit of it as it left the moon.

Smiley Blink  Me too CB..I only caught bit and pieces of partials...never actually saw the total eclipse at all.  The weather has improved here.. for a day or so.  That wind is a bear.. lots of snow in the mountains this year.  Look out if it warms up too quickly.. find High ground.   wink
