Has anyone had trouble uninstalling SimCity Societies? I am on Vista, but don't think that is the problem.   I can't uninstall using the disk, or using the uninstall utility on my laptop.   Either option locks up the computer, and I have to reboot.   I'm obviously not very tech savvy, but any help you can give me would be appreciated.

 Hello and Welcome katmandu2

Sorry to hear you are having problems removing SC:S  ..not your usual place to bump into issues.  I only tried the game on Vista briefly... as a new release.  I didn't have any lockups but the removal process was slow--er than expected as I recall.  One thing that could cause a problem like this is the use of Modded materials.. as they may confuse the UN-installer with files that weren't there during the initial installation.   If you do have these files..removing them before using the game provided removal utility might be something to try.

If not..then I suppose search for info to see if this has occurred with other users and what resolutions have been suggested.   Smiley Blink

One question..does your laptop play the game OK?  My Dell laptop doesn't do very well with the game. I have two desktops that play with reasonable success..but not up to my expectations either.   wink

Thanks for posting, hopfully you can work through this situation.

MaxBeta. . . . . you sure are a gem!  You AND this website.   Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, even on a very elementary issue like this.

FYI. . . . I had installed a couple of mods from this site, and had saved the originals.   I deleted the mods and reinserted the orgs.   It still didn't work, but I was persistant!  Disagreeing Madly and was finally able to just delete the folder (go figure).   Both the uninstall on the disk and the uninstall on my laptop were locking up. . . I still don't know why either of those methods didn't work, but SimCity Societies is indeed gone from my laptop!  Happy Dance  By the way, after that I was able to uninstall another program using the uninstall from my laptop with no problems. . . . must be something with SimCity: Societies.    Questioning

In answer to your question, SimCity: Societies ran on my laptop without a hiccup.   Personally, I just wasn't impressed with the game, and didn't want my laptop "cluttered up" by it.   I'm also looking ahead, and can't wait for Imperium Romanium.   From what I've been able to gather, it looks like an improved CivCity Rome, and that is my favorite game so far.   I'm also really interested in Guild II, but don't know how it will do on Vista.   My guess is fine, since I haven't yet had any Vista problems (that I know of)!  Looking around cautiously

I purchased my laptop about 3 months ago.   It is a Toshiba Satellite X205 with a 17" screen, and I absolutely love it.   The only problems I've had were caused by Quicken (and, I might add) NOT SOLVED by Quicken.   I was able to solve the problem myself, which was really scary. . .  Bashfull Female

 Smiley Blink  Thanks katmandu2

Glad you've resolved this situation...and some of us are looking forward to Imperium Romanium too.  This is a nice place to discuss whatever you are playing.. and you'll find we all have much sympathy whenever a problem occurs.   Agreed Happy

You mentioned Guild II.. it is one of my favorites.  There's so much to manage and the game play is intense, but in a fun way.  Hope you have the time it takes to enjoy it.   wink

After sitting looking at the screen for one hour, I left and came back an hour later.
So it took between one and two hours to uninstall the game.
And good riddance to the lockups and crashes.  Disagreeing Madly

Crying  You have my sympathy Silverbullet..that's a ridiculous amount of time for an uninstall.  I have this game on a PC all by itself..no hardware tech spared, I can play alright up to a certain point.  No doubt there's lingering issues with this title...sorry you had to endure a bad experience.

So..what are you playing now..?  The membership here plays a wide variety of games, so comments are always welcome.   It takes a good game to take out the taste of a bad one... thanks for posting.   wink

I am back with SimCity 4 Rush Hour and having a great deal of fun with it.
As a side note I picked up Roller Coaster Tycoon with all the expansions.
This is not a City Building game as such, but you build theme parks with roller coaster and other rides, zoos, concession stands, etc.
I am having fun with this also.

Smiley Blink  Nice you've found something FUN to play Silverbullet.

CB plays SimCity 4 occasionally.  Around the Holidays I played Rush Hour for a few days.   As for the Coaster games..I have them and played them extensively through several version..expansions etc.  It was Fun to develop things I won't ride in real life..hehe   wink

 Hello and Welcome Silverbullet.

I have RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum and it is a very, very, very fun game  Happy Dance  Holiday Presents.  I was put onto this game by Lengo who is another member here.

If you have rct 3 here is a link to a very good site  http://98.130.102.38/e107/news.php where there is a community and downloads.

We have  some chat about rct 3 here also http://www.citybuildergames.com/index.php/board,157.0.html

If interested, here is an excellent site for SimCity 4 http://sc4devotion.com/ .  Lots of goodies here, but you will need some of the packs that make up "lots" etc that the makers have used, other wise you will get a brown box in the game where there should be an object.  But the readme that come with the plugins are very good in advising what "mega packs" etc you require.

Anyways I have rattled on enough.   Bashfull Female   Big Smiley Grin Laughing
