:) Cheers everyone, How's Winter treating you - only one more day of January to go Spring's on the way.  - Hurray!

Just for some "lite" gaming I downloaded the Settler's 1V demo and the tutorial plays OK but the little scamps don't produce anything in the solitary mission that's available, red flag on building to show occupation but apart from the tree hugger who does actually put some saplings down no planks or stones.  I know you people love these Settlers games but the artwork is too dated for me to actually buy a copy and on looking at the graphics on Settler's 2 its just too amateurish now for me regardless of the gameplay.

After CB's nagging or enthusiastic endorsement of Settler's 2 (10th Anniversary) edition I sent off for a copy and think I'll enjoy it.  It will be good to compare it with Cultures 2: Gates of Asgard - its a lovely little game superb colourful graphics, little Vikings who have minds of their own, a large varied village to be built with all the minutae of production and the mission maps are large and well implemented.  If any of you want a change from the Settler format give it a try as the villagers become like family and its a real tragedy if you  forget to attend to their needs and lose one.

Coupled with that I'm playing The Lord of the Rings 2 : The battle for Middle Earth its a beauty and quite absorbing, the scenery is stunning and EA have launched a good game with this series.  I'm taking my time with it and making it last.

Also like you I'm looking forward to Imperium Romanium when its released later in February it looks very polished and a step on from Civ City Rome which I still enjoy ( have played a few pad11 maps and they are very well implemented - thanks pad11 yet again, a very accomplished effort)

It all goes to keep me occupied and pass these dark grey days away, thank goodness for the Internet and gaming as the once great British TV is now 95% utter crap and should be ashamed of itself.  It amazes me as the state of the TV hardware improves in giant leaps the state of the software ie TV programming disappears in the opposite diametric direction downwards.  How would you North Americans feel about being forced to buy a license for a TV to pay for the BBC (Bland, Boring, Crud) Corporation's right to produce programmes which fewer and fewer people watch? Answers on a postcard.

Smiley Blink  I agree with your description MaxKos.. some graphics just do not make the grade.. no matter what Resolution is used.  I do give games I like to play a break though.. because sometimes it isn't all about the "viewing" as it is the challenge to play.

It's nice to see how each of us respond to the wide spectrum of games.  Nothing replaces the good feeling of knowing you have a game in your collection that will deliver the entertainment you require.   wink

Television here is a mess too.. I watch very little..only specific venues.  I'm not even sure TV has the capacity to be the" baby sitter" it use to be..  Kids nowadays would rather saddle up their PS2 or Xboxes.. or so it seems to me.  I'm sure it is the same in the UK.. I have acquaintances there who have noted this circumstance.

Nice of you to drop in... appreciate your comments and opinions always.   Thumbs Up
