I've now had Societies for about a week.   I am running on Vista, and all has run smoothly.

Just a couple of questions. . . .

Why is it that the names of my buildings all look Arabic on the map? Is this normal? Is there a way to change this?

Is there a way to make a "traffic circle"?  I would like to recreate my hometown, and the most important feature to our downtown area was a beautiful large fountain in the middle of a circle, which is a road.   The traffic then goes around the circle, and takes any one of four streets off of the circle road (ie.  north, south, west east).   Makes for a beautiful downtown area.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have!

Katmandu!  Welcome to the forums!  I'm glad you're enjoying SimCity: Societies and even more pleased that it's working well on Vista for you (I'm getting a new lappy soon w/ Vista and cannot WAIT to return to SimCity: Societies on it -- taking a creative break from it for a week or so but soon to return, for sure!).

The answers to your questions:

1) That 'language' is Sim!  It's unfortunately not an alterable setting in the game, it's built into the graphic art of each building/item.

2) Right now, one way streets are not available...so youre best bet is more a traffic 'square' that will then serve as the town center!  I do that all the time but it IS two-way traffic!

Hope that helps and again, welcome!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I debated long and hard about whether or not to go to Vista when I bought my laptop about 4 months ago.   I'm so glad I did and have had no problems what-so-ever.   However, I'm not as hard core as you are.   I'm just getting up my courage to start modifying. . . !

Just FYI, I have Sid Meier's Pirates, Stronghold2, CivCity:Rome and SimCity Societies on my laptop and have not had problems with any of them.

Good news on those other games Katmandu!  From what I've heard, if you have enough RAM, you're in good shape w/ Vista!

Take care,
pat!
